Patient, Hodgkin's LymphomaHope lives just outside Baltimore, MD with her husband and two dogs, Zoe and Sandy. By day, she works in injury prevention for the federal government. In her free time, she enjoys kayaking the Chesapeake Bay, hiking with the pups, sewing costumes, and visiting palm trees whenever possible. She has also been known to take statistics classes for fun. One constant through 19 rounds of chemo has been her Hawaiian shirts, both for the easy port access and the smile they put on people’s faces. She is currently awaiting her next PET scan and hoping that the stem-cell-transplant-avoidance-plan worked.

I had cancer when I was 29. Hodgkis Disease, stage IIA. Had cancer. Past tense. I did my 6 cycles of ABVD, got a clean PET, pulled out the port, and went on with my life. I didn’t embrace the “survivor” label, didn’t raise money, didn’t even really talk about it. Sure, I followed up with oncology… for the most part. Truth be told I was “lost to follow up” for a few years.
