June 20th – Online Educational Patient and Family Meeting (virtual one-day conference via Zoom) – The American Brain Tumor Association’s Regional Patient and Family Meetings are free events where brain tumor patients and loved ones can learn, gain support and build a community. Attendees will hear from local experts about brain tumor treatments, discuss methods to improve quality of life, and understand available resources in the community while sharing experiences with other brain tumor patients and loved ones.

Writing , Journaling and Artwork Self Expression

Lacuna Loft and Young Survival Coalition are working together again!
Starting weekly online journaling sessions to provide techniques to address the big trigger of COVID-19.  You are welcome to drop in once or come as often as you like.  The sessions will take place each Friday beginning April 16th through at least the end of May, for half an hour at 9 am PT / 11 am CT / 12:00 pm ET via video chat. These techniques will be short, concrete and time-contained.  Jean Rowe from YSC is a certified journal therapist and, with the seasoned facilitator of many writing programs, Mallory Casperson (our CEO), we feel that you will all be in good hands.  What a rich discussion awaits! Register in advance for this program.  You can attend one or attend all, whatever you need.  After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Wellness and Mindfulness Resources

Mind, Body and Soul Series – Every Thursday in May at 12:00pm EDT
Join the young adult communities of the Dear Jack Foundation, Elephants and Tea, and Lacuna Loft during our month-long wellness series in May for an opportunity to connect, grow, and stretch! We will be offering weekly, 90-minute sessions to help enhance the mind, body, and spirit and provide a chance to break down some of the isolation we’ve all been experiencing over the last few weeks. Whether you are a seasoned yogi, meditator, or writer, or a newbie to the world of mind and body care, come and try something new in a safe, fun, and encouraging environment – your own home!

Epic Experience Ballroom Dancing! Every Monday at 6:00pm EDT
Ladies AND GENTLEMEN, join us for a quick lesson in Ballroom Dancing. Epic Experience is committed to keep us engaged and moving during this Corona Virus pandemic. Whether you are joining as a single or coupled up, everyone can learn a few basic ballroom dances. You may think you have ‘two left feet’ and cannot dance but I can promise that you’ll enjoy learning the basics. We’ll be starting with swing then adding waltz, foxtrot and polka depending on our quarantine weeks!

Virtual Yoga & Guided Meditation with Epic Experience
“Bugaboo” Piper Gould comes to you from Denver Colorado. She is an alumni camper of Epic Experience from summer 2019 and a volunteer.

New Virtual LIT Program from Epic Experience: Hosted Virtually Every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00-12:30pm PST.
We are excited to announce a new opportunity to keep us moving with our partners Sweat City Fitness. This is low impact training that will entail the following:

These classes are free of charge and meant to empower adult cancer survivors and thrivers beyond cancer while staying home during these trying times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Chris, one of the owners of Sweat City Fitness, is passionate about empowering the adult cancer community as his dad Louis Chinn, aka Stud, is a stage 4 cancer thriver and Epic Experience alum. We thank Chris for donating his time and energy to encourage us all to stay moving while safe at home. Please ensure that you sign and review the waiver before entering the class. We encourage all participants to enter the Zoom conferencing room 5-10 minutes early.

Please join Tari Prinster for a 50 minute yoga4cancer Class every Monday at 2pm (EDT). This oncology based yoga practice is designed to manage the side effects of cancer and its treatment. The needs of cancer patients and survivors remains a vital need in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. Our goal is to provide safe and effective support to cancer patients and survivors.

This webinar, presented in partnership with AOSW, will provide up-to-the-minute information about changes to health insurance and employment, including new options for paid sick leave, paid family leave, and unemployment benefits. We will also cover recent changes and new rules that may impact an individual’s financial situation, including cash assistance, student loans, mortgages, evictions, utilities, and more. State approaches to the electronic creation and execution of estate planning documents will also be discussed.
